Why Boycott?

Quaker support for a boycott of Israeli settlement goods was in response to an appeal - A Moment of Truth -from the heads of the Christian churches in Palestine. This 2009 Kairos Document contained, but did not especially emphasise a call for "individuals, companies and states to engage in divestment and in an economic and commercial boycott of everything produced by the occupation".
The boycott was conceived as a peaceful form of resistance in which anyone, young or old, rich or poor, could take part. Boycotts can take many forms, and may be endorsed by both Prophets and Reconcilers, but some Quakers have ethical reservations about participating.

A boycott of settlement goods may also involve practical difficulties.
